Today we want to talk to you about one of the most beautiful places and that we like the most in the Valencian Community: Orihuela.

Located in the province of Alicante, on the so-called Costa Blanca, it has some of the best beaches and coves where you can also enjoy excellent cuisine, a historic centre full of history and, for the moresporty, more than 90 holes for golfing under the Mediterranean sun. Factors that have led to nearly 65,000 British people already taking up residence on the Costa Blanca.

We start with what we like best, its beaches. Orihuela has 16 kilometres of coastline where you can find imposing urbanisations, hotels and resorts; where small coves and beaches with transparent waters are intermingled, and where a large part of the leisure activities take place. The perfect place to disconnect and relax! Enjoy life without more.

Furthermore, Orihuela has no less than five of the best beaches in Spain, awarded the Q for Tourism Quality by the Ministry of Tourism, as well as being the town with the most Blue Flags in the whole of the Valencian Community.

Is there anything better? Due to its location and warm temperatures, the beach can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

One of our favourite places in Orihuela is Punta Prima Beach, a privileged place to enjoy the sun and to have some tapas in its chiringuitos. Cala Estaca and its fine sand beaches or Cala Capitan, are also two perfect options to enjoy a relaxed day.

In the calm waters of Cala Caleta you will find the closest thing to paradise. Next to it is the Torre Vigía Cabo Roig, built in the 16th century to warn of possible pirate attacks. But total disconnection, without a doubt, will come from being in Cala Aguamarina.

And attention, golf lovers! In Orihuela you can find 5 golf courses, all of them with a great international prestige, with a total of more than 90 holes where you can enjoy the sun, the Mediterranean and your favourite sport.

Orihuela Centro, a place full of history

Walking through the old town of Orihuela is a walk full of history. In fact, it was declared a “Historic-Artistic Site” in 1969. In just a few minutes walking through its historical centre you can find palaces, churches, convents and museums, an architecture where you can find some of the best preserved facades of Renaissance and Baroque style.
